Trivial Pursuit is the classic board game that tests your mental muscle. You can play individually (up to six people), or in groups.

Object of the game

Answer questions from different genres, and be the first to collect six pieces and correctly answer the final question to win the game. The genre of the final question is chosen by the other players - making it hard if they know what area of knowledge is your main weakness.

The categories are:
- Arts and Literature  (brown segment)
- Science and Nature  (green segment)
- Entertainment  (pink segment)
- Geography  (blue segment)
- History  (yellow segment)
- Sports and Leisure  (orange segment)

Why Trivial Pursuit is fun!

  • It tests your brain power
  • If you play in teams, it can get quite competitive and fun
  • There are different categories to give everyone a chance
  • Have a face-off with your friends to see who is the smartest!

We like to play Trivial Pursuit when we have a long afternoon and evening with friends. We've had to carry over a game to another week because it went on for so long.

What's in the Trivial Pursuit box?

The edition we have is the Genus V Edition. It contains:
- One gameboard
- 600 question and answer cards
- one dice
- six scoring tokens
- 36 coloured wedges

Handy Trivial Pursuit Hints

a) Before the game, determine how long each player gets to answer questions - otherwise the game could go on for a really long time, plus it makes it fairer for everyone. You may like to allow players extra time for questions that could give them a segment (or not).

b) Before the game, also decide how accurate you want answers to be. For example, if the answer is a person's name, do players have to get both first and surnames, or will the surname suffice?

c) On the newest Trivial Pursuit board we have, there are shortcut spaces which can take you directly to a segment question. You should decide whether you'll play the short cut game, or the usual game - depending on how much time you have.

d) If you run out of time and can't finish your game, you may like to take a digital photo so that you can set up the board the next time and continue play.
